Thumbs up Yellowstone

We recently returned from a trip from Arizona to Yellowstone NP. On the way up we spent a day at Bryce Canyon. The free shuttle takes you to all the lookout points and the views rival the Grand Canyon only in a smaller scale. The colors are brighter and the rocks more carved.
We entered Yellowstone at the East entrance and stayed at a campground inside the park. We unhooked the trailer and took day trips to visit the many geysers, steaming pools and other unbelievable sights. Of the many bubbling ponds of steaming water they were never boring to look at because each one was different. It isn't a case of "if you see one, you've seen them all". The park rangers post the schedule within 20 minutes of when Old Faithful will spout. We saw elk, bison, moose and antelope. We missed taking the Northern loop to see bears and possibly wolves. We'll do that next time. At Mammoth a herd of elk come in to the town to graze on the town lawns. The only town I've been in that there's elk crap on the sidewalks. We spent three days in Yellowstone but would recommend no less than four. We left through the South entrance which also is the entrance to the Grand Tetons NP. A day and night there then the boring 1000 mile back to Az. with a day at Lake Powell. The Vermilion Cliffs west of the lake for 60 miles to Kanab Ut. is a real scenic trip. I recommend that if anyone has a chance to tour Yellowstone, be sure to go. It's a trip you will never forget.

How could the 1,000 mile drive back to AZ be boring, there is so much to see and do, regardless of the route you took.
We winter in AZ. and summer in WA., ID., MT., any where it has comfortable temps, we have yet to find it boring, we always find new things to see and do along the way that we missed on previous trips.
Never been to the same place twice yet and we have been RVing since 1967. didn't realize how long it has been til I thought about when we bought out first camper.

Ok, you got me on the boring 1000 miles. Once you leave Jackson Wy. and run along the Snake which was in the fantastic Fall colors what else is there for several hundred miles. The trip over to 15 through Soda Springs isn't what I call scenic. Provo, Salt Lake, Northern Utah? To me cities are something I have to go through to get to someplace nice. Southern Utah is spectacular but they're not considerate of the traveler who has bought fuel and paid their tax. As I said. the 60 miles from Kanab to the Az. border is about the best roadside scenery in the State but they don't provide a single pull off to take pictures. Az. has three in about 300 yards after crossing the State line. There's some red rock scenery after leaving Page but then it's just freeway into Flagstaff and down to Uglyville, aka. Mesa Az...Maybe your priorities are different. Maybe you like the city stuff like operas , culture sites and such but we're nature nuts. If it ain't natural we find no beauty in it..... IMO... Anybody want to join in ??? Come on...... Stir the pot......

You took 15 , why would any one take 15, if their NOT into cities, opera, culture sites, ugly interstate, etc etc. Good grief no wonder it was a boring 1000 miles. I would have to be in a race against the clock to take 15. There is far too many other routes that one could take that would be far more enjoyable. Personally I would fire the navigator and get a new trip planner.
