Default Cleaning your RV Roof

I found this on another web forum and thought I might share

Quote:
After 27 years in the military, it takes a lot to truly impress me anymore. You read claims about compounds that will clean the rubber roof and not damage it. As a former TT and now 5er owner I was pretty religious about cleaning my rubber roof only with Murphy's Oil Soap as recommended by the manufacturer. Murphy's did an O.K. job, but being somewhat OC for detail, aka "clean" (thanks again, military!) it never got my roofs clean to where I was truly happy. I've browsed several posts in this forum recently where a member recommended a Murphy's and Spic & Span combo. Both are relatively mild, so together couldn't be too toxic to the roof I surmised. Well, today was the perfect day, so I mixed up 1/2 cup each of Murphy's and liquid S & S in a couple gallons of hot water and headed up to the roof. I scrubbed the rounded edges of the roof first. Wow, did that make a difference. When I scrubbed the rest of the roof itself, I was stunned at how well this combo cleaned the grime off in short order. I left my rig uncovered for the first time this year and worried about what the Michigan winter would do to the roof. Needn't have worried. My rubber roof is now cleaner and a brighter white than when I took it home from the dealer a year ago. Took me about 45 minutes to scrub 'er down, and without killing my shoulder muscles in the process. After rinsing the roof thoroughly there was a wee bit of white residue on a few places on the sides of the 5er, but my washing of the rig (can't do just half of the job, you know!) took care of that in short order.

Thanks Rolly..
I will have to try this out. Don't know where to get Murphy's Oil Soap but I bet I can find the Spick & Span.

Will let you know.

I just did this over the weekend. The Murphy's was easy to find. It was at Target, also at Winn-Dixie, Publix, Walmart, Etc.. The Spic N Span was a little tougher. Though I did find it at my local Ace Hardware.

Cleaned up the roof pretty well. I am thinking about doing it a second time just to get a little more off if possible.
