OK, it has been a while since I last posted here. I've just been working on a bunch of small things. One thing that I did was to change the cover on the outside electrical plug-in. I changed out a couple of the clearance lights that were not working. There was an old TV antenna that was broken, and I had to remove a rinky dink thing that they had going through the side, then cover up the hole with a nice little cover that I found at Menards. Just little things like that.

The big thing is that I rebuilt the door. It was pretty rotten inside, and it sagged. I pulled the skins off both sides and replaced all of the wood inside. I was surprised that there wasn't any insulation in the door. There is now. I ruined the inside skin, but I found some plastic sheeting at Lowes to replace it. It looks pretty good now, and it is square. That makes a huge difference. There was a grab handle beside the door, and it was all pitted. I removed it, replaced all the wood behind it, then I found a replacement handle that looks pretty good. The big thing was finding one that was the same length so that I didn't have to deal with covering up holes from the old one. The new one fits just right, except that on the bottom the mount is a little bigger than the old one, and it is over a joint in the skin. I had to carefully scribe a line on the mount, then file it so that it would fit over the joint. I didn't want to just screw it down and squish that joint. That actually took me more time than I thought it would. It looks good though.

That's where I'm at. I think that I am done working on the outside until spring. After Thanksgiving I'm going to start in on the inside. I got a drop cord run out there, and a space heater so that I can work out there when it is cold.

You know, I really have to do that, don't I? Come to think of it, it was cold out, and I didn't take any pictures of the door while I had it apart. I will get some pictures up next weekend. I have been planning on putting them on one of those sites where anyone can access them.

This weekend we took out the bunk bed in the back of the trailer so that we can recover the walls back there. We can't decide if we are going to put the bunk bed back in again, or if we are just going to put half of it in and make a nice shelf above the window. I don't know if we would ever use the bunk bed. I suppose it might be nice to have if one of us wants to take a nap while the other one wants to sit on the couch and read, or something like that, as the couch actually converts to the bed that we plan to use when we sleep. OK, thanks guys, I'm going to put it back in. You talked me into it.

We also got the old sink out. That was a trick, but we got it out. Someone went through the trailer, inside and out, and used hot glue to seal everything from the windows to the sink. The sink was actually hot glued into the counter, so we heated it up with a heat gun and finally got it out. We also need a new drain, as the old one was very pitted and just plain gross. The faucet is toast, so I have to get a new one. I think that we are going to keep the counter top. It is in pretty good shape, and we are going to use one of those Mr. Clean erasers to clean it up, and see how it goes. We like the seventies look of the old counter, and we can't find a counter top that we like better, so maybe it will come out OK. The stove and oven look like they were never used.

One thing, I am thinking about pulling the furnace and turning that area into a pantry. Then I am just going to use a Mr. Heater or an electric space heater, if I need one. I really don't see us doing any cold weather camping. We used to do a lot of tent camping, and we never had a heater. We were always comfortable in that respect. It just seems to me that one of those Mr. Heaters would work just as well as a furnace to keep things toasty. This trailer is only 14' x 7', so we don't have a lot to heat. It was a pretty cool Saturday morning, and we worked in there with a space heater, and were down to our shirt sleeves. I don't know if it is safe to leave the furnace on while you sleep, but even if it is, I doubt that I would be able to sleep with it on anyway. So that is where I am with that. Right now, I think that it is as tore up as it will ever be, so now we are going to start putting it back together. One thing, I still have to pull the fridge and replace that, but I haven't bought one yet, so I'll have to plan for that. I want one that will run on 12v, 110v, and propane. It doesn't have to be too big though.
